HP Printers - Having Trouble Claiming Your Printer?
You must claim your printer to use web-connected printing services like HP ePrint, HP Instant Ink, and other cartridge replenishment programs. If you have trouble claiming your printer, see the following solutions.
Cannot find HP ePrint icon on printer control panel display
The HP ePrint
icon is usually located on the control panel display of your printer.
-
If your printer has a control panel with a display, make sure the printer is turned on and is not in sleep mode, then press the HP ePrint
icon, and follow the on-screen instructions to enable or setup Web Services. -
If the control panel display does not have an HP ePrint icon or button, find Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings on the printer menu to locate the Web Services item.
-
If the control panel does not have a display (for example, HP Deskjet 3630, 3700, or 2600 printers), press the ePrint button
to print instructions. If the printed page does not contain an ePrint address and printer claim code, follow the instructions on the printed page to enable Web Services. When you enable Web Services, a page titled "Congratulations" prints with the ePrint address and printer claim code. -
If the control panel does not have a display or an ePrint button
, see either
Cannot find the claim code
note:If you have an HP+ printer, you do not need the Printer Claim Code. Your printer is automatically claimed to your account during the setup. Go to 123.hp.com to download the HP Smart app, and then set up your printer.
The Printer Info Page did not print
Press the HP ePrint
icon. Make sure to select Set Up or Yes to enable Web Services, and then accept the terms. If Web Services are already enabled on your printer, you see a Web Services Summary after pressing the HP ePrint
icon. If enabled, press Print or Print Info to print the Printer Info Page. If a page still does not print, or you are not able to print because you are out of ink, press the HP ePrint
icon on your control panel display and find your HP ePrint email address. The first part of the HP ePrint address preceding "@hpeprint.com" is your claim code. For example, if your HP ePrint email is "abc@hpeprint.com", then "abc" is your claim code. If you are unable to find the HP ePrint
icon on your control panel display, see Cannot find HP ePrint icon on printer control panel display.
If the above steps do not solve the issue, make sure the printer is powered on, then unplug it. Wait a few minutes before plugging the printer in again, then press the HP ePrint
icon on your control panel display, followed by Print or Print Info to print the page.
Web Services cannot be enabled for USB-only printers
Your printer must be connected directly to the Internet to enable Web Services. A USB cable connection to a web-connected computer is not sufficient. To see how to connect your printer wirelessly, go to hp.com/wirelessprinting and select Printer Setup.
The printer is out of ink and cannot print the Printer Info Page
For printers with control panel displays, you can still get the printer claim code by pressing the HP ePrint
icon on the control panel display and selecting Set Up or Yes to enable Web Services. Your printer attempts to print a page. If Web Services are already enabled on your printer, you see a Web Services Summary screen after pressing the HP ePrint
icon. If enabled, press Print or Print Info to print the Printer Info Page. Even though you cannot print the page, the action of enabling Web Services or pressing Print or Print Info activates your claim code. Find your HP ePrint email address on the control panel display. Press the ePrint icon again if the Web Services Summary screen goes away. The first part of the HP ePrint address preceding "@hpeprint.com" is your claim code. For example, if your HP ePrint email is "abc@hpeprint.com", then "abc" is your claim code.
If you have a Deskjet 3630, Deskjet 3700 or Deskjet 2600 printer, you can only produce the claim code by printing the page. If only one cartridge is empty, remove it and try to print the page with the remaining cartridge.
The printer info page printed with no claim code, only an @hpeprint.com email address
Web Services are already enabled
It is possible that you already enabled Web Services on your printer. If enabled, you see a Web Services Summary on your printer control panel display. If you see this screen, press Print or Print Info to print the Printer Info Page and find your claim code. The first part of the HP ePrint address preceding "@hpeprint.com" is your claim code. For example, if your HP ePrint email is "abc@hpeprint.com", then "abc" is your claim code.
The claim code is not working and an error message appears
'Printer code expired' error message
Your claim code expires 24 hours after the Printer Info Page titled "Congratulations" initially prints. After 24 hours, you need to print the Printer Info Page again to obtain an active code. Press the HP ePrint
icon on your control panel display, then press Print or Print Info to print the Printer Info Page. The code is active even if the page does not print. See The printer info page did not print for more details.
'Printer already claimed' error message
Entering the entire @hpeprint.com address does not work
Enter only the first part of the HP ePrint address preceding "@hpeprint.com" as the claim code. For example, if your HP ePrint email is "abc@hpeprint.com", then "abc" is your claim code. Do not enter "@hpeprint.com" into the claim code field.
